How to Ground Your Energy Body

You’re walking barefoot on the beach.

Feel the warmth of the sun contacting your skin. Listen to the rhythm of the crashing waves. Smell the ocean wind as it brushes through you.

Now, notice your feet. Do you feel a tingly sensation in your feet or legs as warmth rises up your body?

Perhaps you’ve noticed a similar feeling while walking barefoot on the grass. In those moments, you are grounded. It’s one reason many people are drawn to the ocean.

Being grounded can mean two things:

Being fully present in your body and/or

Feeling connected to the earth.

We’ve all experienced being grounded. We feel “at home”. But this is a fleeting experience.

Thankfully, there are grounding techniques to help us get and stay rooted in our bodies.

How to identify when you’re body is feeling ungrounded:

You are ungrounded if you:

▪️Get distracted easily

▫️Space out

▪️Over-think or ruminate

▫️Engage in personal drama

▪️Experience anxiety and perpetual worrying

You are also ungrounded if you are:

▪️Possessed by a desire for material things

▫️Easily deceived by yourself or others

▪️Obsessed with your personal image

Physical signs of being ungrounded include:

▪️Inflammation

▫️Poor sleep

▪️Chronic pain

▫️Fatigue

▪️Poor circulation

Being ungrounded is a worldwide epidemic and is the root cause of a great deal of human suffering, but can be helped with the right exercises, awareness & tools. This epidemic is so entrenched few of us even recognize the problem.

Ways to ground your body:

▪️Cover your crown chakra [place a hand over the top portion of your head, allowing your body to feel centered and a deep connection to the universe]

▫️Feel your feet [bring awareness to your feet touching the ground beneath you & visualize roots growing from your feet into the center of the earth]

▪️Follow your breath [let your body lead & your mind follow]

▫️Take a cold shower [Cold exposure has shown to increase immunity, reduce fat, and elevate mood (by triggering dopamine). If you’re not accustomed to cold showers, at the end of your hot shower, make the water warm/cool for 30 seconds.]

Enjoy these grounding techniques! In addition to the techniques listed above, I have created a grounding meditation to help soothe anxiety or stress. You can find it here on Youtube: Calming Meditation for Anxiety
